Rum balls have been on our Christmas table for as long as we can remember.
As kids we had the habit of eating a pile of them before Christmas lunch often feeling too full to fit in any lunch!
These Rum Balls are incredibly easy to make.
If they have been a Christmas tradition for your family, then here’s a sugar free version so you don’t have to miss out (just don’t eat them all before lunch).

We love custard. It may not be cool or fashionable but there is something very comforting about a warm bowl of custard and it is something we have always had at Christmas.
When you go sugar free there are some classics that you have to learn to make without packet convenience – and custard is one of those classics.
It is actually surprisingly easy to make and tastes so much better when made from scratch, with fresh ingredients instead of a powder.
All it needs is a good stir!
We know a lot of you are not only sugar free but also gluten free or grain free on Paleo or Low Carb High Fat (LCHF) inspired eating plans. This gave us the idea of developing a Christmas pudding that was completely sugar, grain and lactose free. So on Christmas you too can enjoy pudding with everyone else.

- Cooking time for pudding: 50-60 minutes

We’ve been thinking for a long time about how to make a Christmas pudding without all of the dried fruit. We can’t think of a Christmas without a delicious pudding and some custard or ice cream on the side.
We’ve decided to do two versions of Christmas pudding.
This one is for those people who are happy to make it on the day. It literally only takes a few minutes. So whilst the family is making a start on the dishes you could whip this recipe up.

White Christmas can be one of those slices that is traditionally so sweet it makes your eyes water and teeth ache!
Here’s our lighter, sugar free version, using nuts, lemon, and orange peel (instead of dried fruit) for a burst of flavour.
- Makes: 24 slices
- Refrigeration time: 3-4 hours (or overnight)
